THE LOTUS

The lotus is the symbol of beauty,
Prosperity and fertility,
According to Hinduism,
Within each human inhabiting the earth
Is the spirit of the sacred lotus?

Lotus represents eternity, purity
And divinity and is widely used
As a symbol of life, fertility,
Ever-renewing youth to describe
Feminine beauty, especially the eyes-

The most common metaphysical analogies
Compares the lotus' perennial rise
To faultless beauty from a miry environment
To the evolution of man's consciousness-

From instinctive impulses, spiritual liberation-
In the Bhagavad Gita, man is adjured to be
Like the lotus, he should live and work
With no attachment,
Dedicating his actions to God-

Untouched by sin like water on a lotus leaf
The beautiful flower standing high above the mud
And water-In postures of hatha yoga,
Lotus position, padmasana, adopted by those
Striving to reach highest level of consciousness,

With itself is found in the thousand-petals
Lotus chakra at the top of the head-
For Buddhists, Lotus symbolizes
The most exalted state of man-His head
Held high, pure, undefined in the sun,
His feet rooted in the world of experience.

RISK TAKERS. . .

ARE YOU AFRAID?

Life can be risky right from the start
Did you notice the cry of a newborn?
He too feels the challenge, when time
To leave mother’s womb, facing unknown.

The new world around can be scary
For anyone, risk taking it’s a challenge.
That comes with a decision-making process,
It could be right or wrong, be always strong.

This is the only way to go ahead.
It is a way of survival for anyone
Acting on impulse it could be wrong,
So take the time, re-think the issues again.

So risk taking at some point in life
Can bring a success, but at the same time
One has to listen to their heart, and then
All shall be fine, positive thinking helps.

A voice from your heart will tell you
To risk, is to live your life to the fullest.
Even if it scares you to make the first step,
Don't be afraid, courage will go a long way.
